Mark M. Baker, Esq. Of Counsel to Brafman & Associates, PC Admitted to the bar in 1973, Mr. Baker has been a longstanding member of the New York legal community. He received his B.S. from Syracuse University in 1969 and then attended law school at Brooklyn Law School, obtaining his J.D. in 1972. Throughout his career, criminal appeals lawyer Mark Baker has also remained a dedicated professional in the field of legal education of both law students and practicing attorneys..He has served as an adjunct professor at Touro College Law Center and remains a Supervising Appellate Attorney with the Cardozo Law School criminal appeals clinic. Mr. Baker is also a regular lecturer at law schools and before bar associations, and has authored a number of articles published in criminal law journals throughout the state. Several professional and communal awards evidence Mr. Baker's commitment to the greater community. In 1999, he was elected a Fellow at the New York State Bar Foundation. In 1990, he received the Yeshiva University Community Leadership Award as well as a Citation from the New York State Assembly for efforts on behalf of Crime Victims. He has also been listed in Who's Who in American Law since 2003 and Who's Who in America since 2005. Currently, Mr. Baker is Of Counsel to Brafman & Associates, the law firm of renowned criminal defense and trial attorney Benjamin Brafman, where, in addition to his own cases, he handles that firm's motion and appellate litigation. Before becoming involved with Mr. Brafman's firm, Mr. Baker was a partner with prominent trial attorney Barry I. Slotnick, in what was then known as Slotnick and Baker, P.C. There, Mr. Baker began his private practice after five years as an assistant district attorney with the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office and another 5-plus years as a New York State Special Assistant Attorney General in the then Office of the Special Prosecutor Investigating the New York City Criminal Justice System, where he had served as Chief appellate attorney and counsel.
