Live: US Immigration Law: From the Founding Fathers to the Arizona Controversy - 07/22/2010
Item # 325
Since the founding of the United States, immigrants have flocked to our shores seeking a better life and freedom in this land of opportunity. Debates have long raged about the proper course of U.S. immigration policy, should we open our doors to “Your tired, your poor, your huddled masses” as we have done so many times in the past, or should we slam shut our “golden door” as Arizona is attempting to do now.

Mayor Michael Wildes, a renowned immigration attorney, will give a retrospective on U.S immigration law and policy from the times of the founding fathers to the current debate surrounding Arizona’s controversial immigration law. Additionally, Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe will compare and contrast U.S. immigration policy with the Talmudic perspective on immigration law.
